Galli’s Cinderella

 

The Play
Cinderella is a beautiful girl, but her vain and mean stepmother and stepsisters make her do all the housework. One day the prince sponsors a ball to choose his wife. With a lot of hope and a pinch of magic Cinderella disguises herself and sneaks to the ball. The prince falls in love with this mysterious girl at first sight. However, before the two can live happily every after, the prince must discover her true identity.
All ages.

The Playwright

Johannes Galli is an award-winning playwright, philosopher, actor, composer, director, filmmaker and a humanitarian. He studied the original fairy tales and carefully crafts plays that can be linked to issues in today’s society. Johannes has received numerous awards for his work. Among others, he received a New Play Award for Best Contemporary Playwright in Germany. AMECAP organization in Mexico City presented him the Youth Development Award for his outstanding work with young artists.

Shubra Prakash
(Stepsister)

Shubhra is a recent transplant from Bay Area CA, where she completed two educational theater tours at New Conservatory Theater and Bay Children's Theater.  In New York, Shubhra is busy auditioning for everything from musical theater, plays and film. She enjoys working with artists from various cultures and communities.

Cassidy and Hannnah Rubin
(Doves)

Sisters, Cassidy and Hannah Rubin make their theatrical debut on this stage. Prior to this production they have performed for friends and family as well as in school productions.  They would like to thank the theater community for welcoming them at the beginning of their long acting careers.

Julian Ryan Deleon

(Father, Prince)
Julian is very excited to have the opportunity to peform with the Galli Theatre.  He attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and would like to thank his family and the Galli Theatre for their continued support.

Vanessa Schroeter

(Stepmother)
Vanessa is originally from the Black Forest in Germany, legendary home of Hansel and Gretel.

She has been working with the Galli Group in Europe for several years and now joined the team in New York as an actor.

In 2009, Vanessa received her B.A. with Honors in Linguistics, Communication Studies and Drama at Kingston University London.

Vanessa loves performing in Galli’s creative and funny fairy tale plays and has participated in Galli’s community outreach programs and international youth education programs.

Dedunu Suraweera

(Stepsister)
Dedunu Suraweera is a recent graduate of Psychology and Theatre Arts at Stony Brook University, with past performances including The Pavilion (narrator), The Children's Hour (Mrs. Mortar) and others; she is currently acting in a prevention-through the arts travelling troupe called Stories of Substance and is thrilled to make her debut performance at the Galli Theater!

Chantal Thuy

(Cinderella)
Chantal is making her theatrical debut in New York City. A native-born Montreal Canadian, she recently graduated from the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Her stage credits include Nina (The Seagull)

and Perdita (Winter's Tale). She has also appeared in various short films; commercial work include United Nations PSA, HerCut, Tooheys Extra Dry and Canadian Tourism. She holds a Bachelor in Film & Communication Arts from Concordia University. Main hobbies are karaoke, painting & laughing.
